Noé Sendas (1972). Born in Brussels lives and works between Berlin, Madrid and Lisbon. He studied at Kuntlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, Germany), School of Art, Institute of Chicago (USA), Royal College of Fine Arts (London, UK) and AR.CO Center For Fine Arts (Lisboa, Portugal).
With an absolutely unique work - which is distributed through incursions in the various typological territories that constitute the action of contemporary artists, from video to photography, from sculpture to installation, also through the practice of drawing and collage as an appreciation of the projectual moment - Noé Sendas has been developing, since the mid-1990s, a consistent national and international career. Using, above all, archival material and a strong relationship with the strategies of construction of meaning typical from the universes of literature and cinema, he has been exploring narrative processes based on small formal or procedural interventions perpetrated on pre-existing images. Sendas is mostly interested in exploring exhibition models and presentation devices as mechanisms that test the viewer’s perceptual capacity.
Noé Sendas’ work is part of numerous collections such as the Arts Council of Haarlemmermeer, Amsterdam; Novo Banco Photo Collection, Lisbon; Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon; CAV Foundation, Portugal; CULTURGEST Caixa Geral Depositos, Lisbon; EDP Foundation Collection, Lisbon, Contretype Centre d`Art Contemporain, Brussels; Lisboa Municipality Collection, Lisbon; MEIAC Collection, Spain; MAR – Museu de Arte do Rio, Brazil; PLMJ Foundation Collection, Lisbon, Coleção de Arte Contemporânea do Estado Português; SERRALVES collection as well as numerous private collections in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, Russia and UK.
